Saw a moose at breakfast. I called home for Christmas. I almost cried afterwards. Then Isaiah said something kind and I lost it. I was fine after that. The worst part was that Mom had paid extra to get me a package by Christmas (she never does that) and I had to tell her that I hadn’t gotten it and also that we weren’t doing anything special for Christmas. She wanted me to have a special day and I had to disappoint her. That was hard.
