Biblical studies have always been part of my life. Yes, I'm one of those life-long Christians, homeschooled and all, but that doesn't mean I've stayed the same.

​I was raised in charismatic non-denominational churches, attended house churches for a while as a teen, left church during my 20s, attended a Foursquare church for 10 years in my 30s, and now attend an African Methodist Episcopalian church. Through it all, I never left God or abandoned spiritual practices like reading the Bible and praying. Church was optional; God and an active faith life was not.

In 2024, I started seminary, not knowing where it would lead, but knowing writing and teaching would be an important part of the next chapter in my life. As of 2025, I am partway through an MDiv program and finding I have much to write and talk about. Most of my theology and biblical studies work can be found on my Substack and on YouTube, but check back here, too. I have a class in the works. Stay tuned!​

Life Changes

I started producing content about Christian theology under the name Jill Hunter. Now that I am in an MDiv program, I have begun writing under Jill Hames, which is the name associated with the degree.
